Despite an increased commitment to diversity within the philanthropic sector, a majority of African-Americans do not believe they have real opportunities for meaningful leadership roles within the sector. In 2012, the Association of Black Foundation Executives found only 3 percent of chief executives were African-Americans. This also underscores the historic underinvestment in black led organizations.

Our collective impact strategy is to create a space called the Connect Room, which invites changemakers to join a conversation that can help raise awareness about police brutality. The conversation is designed to allow changemakers and the Black community to share their voice and discuss this issue together.
